NAME webdrop - upload files and return temporary download URLs
SYNOPSIS
add FILE... [select EXPIRY] upload
remove FILE... | clear
copy URL | copy all
DESCRIPTION
WebDrop uploads files selected in the browser and returns a temporary download URL for each successful file. Files stay in the browser queue until the user presses Upload.
Uploading and downloading do not require an account. Each file receives a separate URL. WebDrop is not a file-sync service or permanent file store.
- 01
Add files by dropping them on the paperclip area, choosing them from the device, or pasting a clipboard file or image.
- 02
Check the queue. Use × to remove a file, or clear the queue. No upload has occurred at this point.
- 03
Select an expiry of 1, 7, 30, or 90 days. The default is 30 days.
- 04
Press Upload. WebDrop sends the queued files one at a time.
- 05
Copy an individual URL or use Copy All. WebDrop returns one URL per file.
INPUT
- Drag and drop
- Drop one or more files on the paperclip area.
- File picker
- Choose one or more files through the browser's file picker.
- Clipboard
- Press Ctrl+V or Command-V while WebDrop is open, or press Paste. The browser may ask for clipboard permission.
- File handler
- A supported Chromium installation can receive files selected through the operating system's Open With action.
- Share target
- Installed Chromium browsers on Android can receive files from another application's Share action. Safari on iOS and iPadOS does not support web share targets.
QUEUE
Added files remain in the current browser window until Upload is pressed. Adding, opening, sharing, or pasting a file does not upload it.
Remove unwanted files with × before pressing Upload. Closing the page or clearing the queue before upload discards the local selection.
Within one queue, WebDrop ignores a second selection if its name, size, and modification time match a file already present.
OUTPUT
- WebDrop uploads files sequentially and reports combined progress.
- A successful upload appears under Share Links.
- A failed upload remains listed with its error.
- After the batch completes, WebDrop tries to copy the successful URLs to the clipboard.
- If clipboard access fails, use Copy or Copy All.
- A URL remains usable until it expires or the file is removed.
CAUTION Anyone who has a URL can download its file while the URL remains valid.
INSTALLED APP
If the browser displays Install App, WebDrop can be installed as a progressive web app. The installed app opens in its own window.
On Android, install WebDrop from Google Chrome. The Chrome installation can register WebDrop in the system Share sheet. Received files enter the local queue and are not uploaded automatically.
Do not install WebDrop through Samsung Internet while its WebAPK installer produces legacy Android packages. Browser upload still works in Samsung Internet.
CAUTION If Google Play Protect displays "Unsafe app blocked" and says the app was built for an older version of Android, cancel the installation. Do not select Install anyway. Remove that WebDrop package, open https://drop.prodyn.link/ in Google Chrome, and install it from Chrome.
Installed web apps on iPhone and iPad cannot register as Share destinations. Use the procedure in IOS AND IPADOS.
IOS AND IPADOS
Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave on iPhone and iPad cannot register an installed website as an incoming Share-sheet destination. The browser workflow and the optional Shortcut below are the supported paths.
BROWSER OR HOME SCREEN
- 01
Open
https://drop.prodyn.link/in Safari. - 02
To install the Home Screen app, press Safari's Share button, choose Add to Home Screen, check the name, and press Add. Installation is optional.
- 03
Open WebDrop in Safari or from its Home Screen icon. Press Choose files.
- 04
Choose Photo Library, Take Photo or Video, or Choose Files when iOS presents those sources. Select the items and return to WebDrop.
- 05
Check the local queue. The files have not been transmitted. Remove unwanted items and select an expiry.
- 06
Press Upload. Copy an individual result or press Copy all after the batch completes.
- iPad drag and drop
- Place Files or Photos beside WebDrop with Split View or Stage Manager, then drag items onto the WebDrop paperclip area.
- Clipboard
- Press Paste when the browser exposes file or image data. If iOS does not expose the item, use Choose files.
SHARE SHEET SHORTCUT
An Apple Shortcut can appear in the Share sheet and upload directly to WebDrop. It cannot place files into the web app's local review queue. The Shortcut must show its own confirmation before sending data.
- 01
Open Shortcuts, create a new Shortcut, and name it Send to WebDrop.
- 02
Open the Shortcut details. Enable Show in Share Sheet and set the accepted input types to Files, Images, and Media.
- 03
Add Choose from List with the values 1, 7, 30, and 90. Rename its result variable to Expiry.
- 04
Add Show Alert before the network actions. State that the selected files will upload to WebDrop, and keep the Cancel button enabled.
- 05
Add Repeat with Each and set its input to Shortcut Input.
- 06
Inside the repeat block, add Get Contents of URL. Set the URL to
https://drop.prodyn.link/upload.php, method to POST, and request body to Form. - 07
Add form field
filewith value Repeat Item. Add form fieldexpireswith value Expiry. - 08
After Get Contents of URL, add Get Dictionary Value for key
url. Add that value to a variable named Uploaded URLs. - 09
After End Repeat, add Combine Text using Uploaded URLs with New Lines. Add Copy to Clipboard, then Show Result.
- 10
From Photos, Files, or another app, press Share and choose Send to WebDrop. Select the expiry, confirm the upload, and wait for the returned URLs.
The Shortcut sends multiple files sequentially. Each file receives a separate URL. Upload limits, rate limits, expiration, and blocked file types are the same as the browser workflow.
LIMITS
- Empty files are rejected.
- WebDrop rejects empty files and a small set of executable file types.
- Downloads use attachment disposition. The browser should save the file rather than open it as part of the WebDrop site.
- Upload attempts are rate limited. If WebDrop reports a rate-limit error, wait before retrying.
CAUTION WebDrop does not scan or certify a file as safe. Check files from unknown senders before opening them.
